Trump's Crypto Platform 'Bland' On First Day Of Sale

Former US president Donald Trump's cryptocurrency platform had a shaky sales launch on Tuesday with only a fraction of its digital tokens on the market.

The Republican candidate announced in mid-September that he and his son and entrepreneurs would launch a platform called World Liberty Financial.

About 20 billion digital tokens costing 1.5 cents each were offered by the company with a total value of US$300 million but only 3% had been sold by Tuesday afternoon.

The token can be used as a cryptocurrency and gives the holder a vote on the governance of the platform.

Some users also complained that the token sale system was disrupted due to technical problems because the company's official website was down.

However, World Liberty Financial will allow users to lend or borrow cryptocurrencies from each other. The service is offered by many platforms among which the most famous is Aave.

Meanwhile, Trump has previously accused crypto investments of being a scam and he changed his stance to pro-Bitcoin when he was re-nominated for president in November's election.
