There is no excuse for evading zakat, crypto can now be used!
Malaysia is now the first country in the world to allow zakat payments using cryptocurrency, a historic step introduced by the Zakat Collection Center of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (PPZ-MAIWP).
PPZ-MAIWP Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Abdul Hakim Amir Osman, explained that this initiative not only facilitates zakat transactions, but also educates Muslims about financial responsibility in the digital era.
Young people, who now control more than 54% of crypto investments, have the opportunity to contribute to zakat through this asset, making it one of the new sources of wealth that is subject to mandatory zakat at a rate of 2.5%.
With zakat collections on digital assets increasing by 73% last year, this step proves how Islam continues to be relevant in the modern technological world.
Crypto is now not just an investment, but also a source of livelihood that is subject to mandatory zakat. Are you ready to pay crypto zakat, everyone?
